Granola Yarn

Welcome yarn lovers!  I've started this blog as I begun my online store catering to yarn with a purpose.  At www.granolayarn.com you will find the best of organic and sustainable yarns.  In addition, I think it's important to help artists all over the world so I also carry products that are hand-dyed and/or hand spun with care and flair! 

My journey started with I took up knitting to relax and to prove to myself I could!  When I went to knit my first brown wool scarf - I found myself itchy and red.  I couldn't believe it!  My yarn was attacking me!  As I did some reading online I found out it was most like the chemicals used on the fibers, not the wool itself.  Then I was turned on to a whole new world of yarn - organic, sustainable.  Not only does it help my skin, but it helps the world and the environment and most importantly, the PEOPLE in the world. 
 
I decided to start my own store that caters to yarn addicts like myself that also care about the environment and artistry.  So now, I spend my days shopping for fantabulous yarn, creating and tweaking my website, and helping customers along with the assistance of my Sr. VP of PR (Oliver) and the Head of Finance (Rodman).  Ok, they are cats and aren't allowed anywhere near the yarn, but they keep me company. My evenings are spent with my supportive and loving husband who spends his days with much less fluffy coworkers in his career as a mechanical engineer designing widgets and thingamabobs.  I think there's more to it than that, but it's way over my head!

Besides knitting, I enjoy reading when I can sit long enough to get through something more substantial than US Weekly and EW, making candles to keep my home smelling purty, cooking, gardening, walking anywhere I can learn something, and I'm embarrassed to admit - a slave to bad reality shows.
